 District 10 Service Positions 

Officers

District Committee Member (DCM). Chairs monthly district meetings, shares information with groups, and determines the collective conscience of D10 groups to carry to semi-annual area meetings.  *Suggested a minimum of 5 years sobriety

Treasurer.  Receives group contributions, keeps the receipts, and shares monthly reports of contributions and expenses. *Suggested a minimum of 2 years sobriety

Alternate District Committee Member (ADCM). Supports and assists the DCM, and takes on the DCM responsibilities in their absence. *Suggested a minimum of 2 years sobriety

Secretary. Takes, keeps and shares minutes of the District’s monthly meetings. Assists Offices and Chairs/Coordinators with communication.

Committee and Intergroup Chairs and Coordinators

** NOTE: This is a brief summary of responsibilities, it is not all inclusive.

Archives. Preserves District history and records. Assists the Area Archivist with historical records of our District.

Blue Ridge Intergroup (BRI) Hotline Coordinator. Coordinates District 10’s volunteers to answer calls for help to the BRI Hotline for the one week a month that we cover. Gets volunteers in place from the District to answer these calls. *Suggested a minimum of 2 years sobriety

Blue Ridge Intergroup (BRI) Liaison. Attends the monthly BRI meetings and brings information to them about how we’re doing and attends District 10 meetings to tell the District what BRI is up to.

Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC). Shares information about AA with professionals who have contact with alcoholics, like doctors and social workers. May provide AA literature and materials to the community.  Can work in conjunction with Public Information & Treatment.

Correctional Facilities Cooperation (CFC). Coordinates volunteers to carry the message to men and women at the Loudon County Adult Detention Center (ADC). Serves as point of contact for for the ADC volunteers. Manages the Pink Can fund. Works closely with the Loudoun County Mental Health coordinator to disperse AA literature to the men and women at the ADC. *Must have a minimum of 2 years sobriety

Events Coordinator Coordinates chair persons, volunteers and supplies for the District’s three main events (Day of Sharing, Summer Picnic, and Fall Dinner Dance).

Grapevine and Literature. Informs the District of what is goin on in the AA literature area and creates an awareness within the District of the benefits of AA literature in carrying the message. May assist with literature displays at AA events. 

Growth.  Maintains lists of groups, and GSRs/contacts in the District and helps groups with any concerns related to their groups/meetings.

Northern VA Intergroup (NVI) Liaison. Attends the monthly NVI meetings and brings information to them about how we’re doing and attends District 10 meetings to tell the District what the Intergroup is up to.

Public Information (PI). Encourages and assists with informing the general public about AA. Maintains current list of PI pamphlets, films and AA material. Participates in workshops and other community activities. Can work in conjunction with CPC & Treatment.

Treatment. Identifies opportunities to carry the message to area treatment and rehabilitation facilities. Coordinates volunteers to take meetings into these facilities. Serves as point of contact for the volunteers and facilities. Can work in conjunction with PI & CPC

Website. Maintains the District website.  Posts pertinent AA and District information on the site, including events and meeting information.
